I brought my old Gimp Toolbar Patch up to date, it should work with Gimp-2.6 or the newest Gimp-SVN. In addition to the
earlier patch it now supports two toolbars. You can customize them by copying
image-toolbar.xml or
image-secondary-toolbar.xml to
~/.gimp-2.6/menus/ and editing them as you like. The toolbar are hideable and showable just like the other UI elements. As you can see in the screenshot, not all actions have icons so they will show up by name. The patch is available at:

Prebuild Ubuntu packages are available from:

1. Gimp start now with the following message, which version of GEGL did you install ? ** Message: Module '/usr/lib/gegl-0.0/fill.so' load error: /usr/lib/gegl-0.0/fill.so: undefined symbol: gegl_operation_vector_prop_changed
2. The toolbar show icon and text. I'd like only icon. Where is it possible to remove the text ? In the gtkrc file ?
1) I am using libgegl-0.0-0 version 0.0.18-1. If you are using Ubuntu Ibex it should normally work out of the box with just apt-get.
2) Yes, its a global gtk property somewhere, unrelated to the patch. Not sure where to find it exactly.
You wouldn't happen to know if anyone's made a Windoze binary of this, perchance?
The patch isn't Linux specific so it should be possible to build it on Windows, but I don't think anybody has done this yet.

I am new to Gimp, and find it easier to work with toolbars with file save button than ctrl-s etc

There are still no windows binaries for Gimp with double toolbar patch, so no, sorry, no easy way to get this to work in Windows.
